.yokohama is a geographic generic top-level domain dedicated to Yokohama, Japan. It gives websites a direct city identity while remaining technically separate from Japan's .jp country-code domain.

The extension can suit local services, restaurants, tourism, events, culture, real estate and companies that want Yokohama to be visible in the web address. International organizations can also use it for a dedicated Yokohama-facing site.

The current ICANN agreement is Base / Non-Sponsored, and the namespace is operated by GMO Registry. VYR treats standard registration as open rather than applying a continuing community-nexus rule like those used by some other city TLDs.

The geographic signal remains strong even when eligibility is broad. A project with no meaningful Yokohama connection should consider whether the domain could create inaccurate expectations.
