.wien

.wien is a geographic generic top-level domain for Vienna, Austria. “Wien” is the German name of the city, giving the extension a direct local identity for German-speaking audiences and organizations connected to Vienna.

Unlike an open city-themed TLD, .wien has a formal eligibility requirement. The official registry states that a registrant must be a natural or legal person able to demonstrate an economic, cultural, historical, touristic or social connection to Vienna, and the domain must be used consistently with that connection.

That makes .wien a strong fit for Vienna businesses, residents, tourism, culture, local services and organizations with a genuine relationship to the city.

The connection requirement means simple availability is not enough. Registrants should be prepared to comply with the registry's Registration Policies throughout the life of the domain.

VYR therefore classifies .wien as restricted. It is a community geographic gTLD, not Austria's .at country-code domain.
