.spa is a community generic top-level domain associated primarily with spas, wellness and related services. It is operated under an ICANN Registry Agreement that includes Community Specification 12.

The registration model is unusual. The agreement says that after launch the registry intends an open platform where individuals and companies around the world can register on a first-come, first-served basis. At the same time, every registrant must accept mandatory community guidelines covering domain-name selection, content and use, and violations can lead to suspension or cancellation.

That means ordinary registration is much broader than a profession-only or membership-only namespace, but the TLD still carries enforceable community-purpose obligations after a domain is registered.

A .spa address can suit spas, wellness businesses, beauty services and related projects, but it does not certify a practitioner, facility or treatment. VYR classifies .spa as mixed: general eligibility is broad, while mandatory community-use rules make it more controlled than a conventional open gTLD.
