.ng

.ng is the country-code top-level domain for Nigeria and is managed by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association, NiRA. A direct name such as example.ng is shorter than category-based alternatives such as .com.ng or .org.ng.

NiRA describes second-level .ng domains as open domains and states that there is no restriction on the registrant's location or type: Nigerians and non-Nigerians, individuals and corporate bodies can register qualifying names. Registrations are handled through NiRA-accredited registrars.

The extension is a strong geographic signal for businesses, organizations and services targeting Nigeria. It is also occasionally used for domain hacks because “ng” can complete English words, but the technical and policy framework remains that of Nigeria's ccTLD.

Open eligibility does not override NiRA's naming, abuse, dispute or intellectual-property rules, and particular names can still be reserved or unavailable.

VYR classifies direct .ng registration as open because ordinary registrants are not subject to a Nigerian residence or incorporation requirement.
