About .life

.life is a generic top-level domain built around one of the broadest ideas possible: life itself. That makes it unusually flexible. A .life name can fit personal projects, health and wellness brands, coaching, family services, lifestyle media, communities, charities, hobbies and businesses whose identity is tied to everyday living rather than a narrow industry label.

The strength of .life is that the word can carry an emotional or human meaning without fixing the website to one business model. A publication about healthy living, a memorial project and a personal brand could all use the extension naturally, even though their purposes are very different.

That breadth is also the main tradeoff. The extension does not tell visitors exactly what a site offers, so the name before the dot needs to supply enough context. A short phrase that reads naturally with “life” can be more memorable than a generic brand word that leaves the meaning unclear.

.life is operated within the standard ICANN gTLD framework and is generally open for registration through participating registrars. Availability, reserved names, premium classifications and trademark rights can still affect a specific domain.
