.hk is the country-code top-level domain for Hong Kong. A direct second-level name such as example.hk provides a concise Hong Kong identity without using one of the more specialized category namespaces beneath .hk.

Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation states that direct .hk registrations are available to local or overseas individuals and entities. Except for special cases, documentary proof is not normally required for a standard second-level .hk registration. This makes the direct namespace substantially more accessible than categories such as .com.hk, which have category-specific eligibility requirements.

The extension is a natural choice for businesses, organizations, media and services aimed at people in Hong Kong. Overseas registrants can also use it when an available name fits a Hong Kong-facing project.
