.gdn is a generic top-level domain commonly expanded as “Global Domain Name.” Unlike a country code or an industry-specific ending, the name was designed as a broad namespace that can be used by individuals, businesses and organizations without tying the website to one location or field.

That makes .gdn suitable for projects that want a neutral international address, especially when the brand name itself carries most of the meaning. It can work for cross-border services, communities, personal sites and businesses that prefer a short extension but do not need a descriptive category such as .shop or .tech.
