.gay

.gay is a generic top-level domain built around a widely recognized term associated with gay people and, more broadly, LGBTQ+ communities, culture and causes.

The extension can suit community organizations, media, events, businesses, resources and personal or creative projects that deliberately want this identity in the domain name. It can provide clear context for the audience or subject of a site.

Registration itself is not an identity test. A registrant does not have to prove a particular sexual orientation or membership in a community simply to obtain an available standard .gay name. The domain therefore should not be treated as proof that a website represents, is endorsed by, or is trusted by any specific community or organization.

Registrants still need to respect trademarks, privacy, anti-abuse rules and applicable law.

VYR classifies .gay as open from a registration-eligibility perspective, subject to registry and ICANN policies, reserved names and third-party rights.
