.ec

.ec is the country-code top-level domain for Ecuador. A direct name such as example.ec provides a national identity without using one of the category-based namespaces also available under .ec.

NIC.EC's current registration policy requires truthful registrant and contact information, a registration agreement and compliance with registry rules, but it does not impose a general Ecuadorian residence or local-company requirement for ordinary direct registrations. VYR therefore treats registrant eligibility as open.

The registry does apply important name-level controls. In particular, three-character domain names require prior authorization because short combinations can coincide with acronyms or identifiers of public institutions and other protected interests. Reserved, blocked or otherwise restricted names can also be unavailable.

For businesses and services aimed at Ecuador, .ec provides a clear country signal. International registrants should remember that the extension remains governed by NIC.EC rather than by the standard gTLD contract model.

VYR classifies .ec as open with name-specific registry restrictions.
