.dk

.dk is the country-code top-level domain for Denmark and is managed by Punktum dk. It is the natural country-domain choice for Danish businesses, organizations, services and projects aimed at people in Denmark.

Registration is broadly accessible, including to people outside Denmark, but the namespace has identity and contact-data controls that make it more than a completely frictionless open ccTLD. Registrants residing in Denmark are subject to identity verification, while foreign registrants are assessed through a risk process and may be required to provide documentation verifying their identity and address.

Under the registrar-managed model in force from July 2026, a new .dk domain is activated only after required email and, where applicable, identity and address verification has been completed.

These checks are administrative and security requirements rather than a rule that only Danish residents may own .dk names.

VYR classifies .dk as mixed: broadly available, but with meaningful registrant-verification requirements that can affect activation.
