.directory

.directory is a generic top-level domain for sites that organize and help users find people, businesses, resources or information. The word describes a structure or function rather than a particular industry.

It can work for business directories, professional listings, local guides, member directories, supplier databases and curated resource collections. A subject or place name before .directory can clearly define what users should expect to browse.

A directory can be comprehensive, selective or commercially sponsored, and the extension does not tell visitors which model is being used. Site operators should make listing criteria, sponsorship and ranking methods clear where they matter.

For a business that does more than provide listings or discovery, .directory may be too narrow as the primary brand domain.

.directory is an open generic top-level domain. Standard registrations are generally available through participating registrars, subject to registry and ICANN policies, reserved names, premium classifications and third-party rights.
