.bayern

.bayern is a geographic generic top-level domain for Bavaria, the German federal state known as Bayern in German. It gives businesses, organizations and individuals a direct way to express a Bavarian connection online.

The registry promotes .bayern for companies, private individuals, associations and organizations, and ordinary domains are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis through accredited registrars. There is no general requirement that every standard registrant prove residence or a place of business in Bavaria.

That open model does not mean every label is available. Bayern Connect maintains a separate municipality program in which names corresponding to Bavarian cities, markets and municipalities have been reserved for the relevant local authorities.

For local services, tourism, cultural projects and regional brands, .bayern provides a strong geographic signal. An unrelated use may create expectations of a Bavarian connection even when none exists.

VYR classifies ordinary .bayern registration as open, with reserved municipal names handled separately.
