.attorney is a generic top-level domain with a direct connection to the legal profession, particularly in jurisdictions where “attorney” is a common professional title.

The extension can suit law firms, individual lawyers, legal directories, education and legal-information services. A personal name, practice area or location before .attorney can create a highly descriptive professional address.

The TLD is not a licensing system. ICANN lists .attorney under a standard non-sponsored Registry Agreement, so registration does not prove that the registrant is admitted to practice law or is authorized to provide legal services.

Because legal titles are regulated in many jurisdictions, a website should accurately represent the qualifications of the people behind it.
