.army is a generic top-level domain built around the military term “army”. It can be used for history, communities, veteran-related projects, military-interest publishing and other lawful sites where the term is central to the subject.

The current ICANN Registry Agreement for .army is Base / Non-Sponsored rather than a military-membership or government-restricted namespace. Standard registration therefore does not require proof of service in an army or authorization from a defense ministry.

That openness makes context especially important. A .army domain does not imply that a website is operated, endorsed or approved by an official military organization. Registrants should avoid creating false government or unit affiliation and should respect protected names and marks.

For commercial or community projects, the second-level name should make the site's actual relationship to the subject clear.
